Sorry I just did not have the timing down. 1+3 button just a tap is the way to go.

5 key "ON"-"OFF" cycles will to the trick as well.

that is how to get INTO valet mode without the use of your remote... also how remote programing is done followed by pressing button 1/lock on the remote( depending on the remote that you have)

yes button 1 & 3 together for 0.5 seconds is the correct way to exit or enter VALET mode... you will know you are in valet mode if your starter doesnt work or in tha case of alarm siren makes no chirps ( dont mistake it for MUTE mode) and the light flash also doesnt work (if it is hooked up)
door locks and other convenience features continue to work still in valet mode

more info for you for future
seems like common issue with CS owners pressing combinations of buttons in their pocket

Yep, I found same problem with key fobs that have more than 4 sets of keys on them, typically shoved into pocket or purse, and invariably one of the keys will hit the buttons on the remote, killing the battery, and setting all sorts of functions on your alarm
*Tip* avoid a mess of keys on your remote fob, they will break the plastic loop holding the chain, or cause the remote to do the funky chicken on your alarm.

or disconnect the battery and wait 5 minutes and hook it up again ignition on off five times is how you program your remote
