blowing my sub? =(

soo after a month and a couple days i think ive blow my 12" type R, i dont see how tho, its wired uup to a alpine mrp-m500 amp which is a 500 wrms amp and the type r is rated 200-500wrms i belive. my box is made by me the dimensions are:
front - 21.5 x 13.5
back - 24 x 13.5
top/bottom - 24 x 15
left side - 14.25 x 13.5
right side - 13.5 x 13.5
port 1 - 11.75 x 13.5
port 2 - 5 x 13.5
which worked out to around 2 cubes at 35 or 36 hz, and i got it from the RE audio box design thing.
and its starting to stink my sub when i turn the volume up loud, and on my amp i have the gain to minimal and the db at about 3, and the lp filter is about 75, would my box or the amp be causing my sub to start to fry? would
i be able to take it back to the store i bought it at and get it replaced as its been like 35 days??
btw i got it at visions.

i work at the visions in prince george bc and i dont think it sould be a problem if it is the first time that it has fried on you and if anything you might be under powering it but thats kinda unlikly as well it sould run it no problem but when you get ur new sub just be sure to give it a long break in time i also run type r subs and i let mine break in for about 3 months before i realy cranked them and just listen realy closly for it clipping when it starts to sound like it is missing some of the beats you have it to loud but just give it some break in time and it sould be all good

chances are you are going to have to stick with the type r but just talk to the guys down there and see if u can work somthing out i dont exactly no how picky they are over there but if it were me after 30 days u would have to get the same sub they are a great sub like i said i run them and im super happy they just need a good break in time is there a reason that u want to go with a different sub?

ya for sure im not saying it has to be that long thats just how long i broke mine in for they say about 40 hr or so but i can almost garantee thats the reason that it started to heat up so bad

ya i think thats exactly y they need to have break in time and thats real break in time running it for 5 min and suttin it down doesnt realy count so with the new one run it at about half to 3/4 gain but dont run it at full volume on the deck that doesnt mean that u cant turn it up for short burps just dont run it at full for long puriods of time like i said they are great subs and sould last u a long time but everything has a limit and u just have to no were that limit is so i would say about a month of break in then it sould be good to go
