Sony Head Unit not working...
We just bought a Sony CD/MP3..... player from good ole Wal-Mart for my mom's 2003 Silverado.
I hooked everything up (definitely not my first time) and discover that the unit is not working. Now, when I plug it in (with the cables connected to the battery), it makes a power on sound for a couple seconds but nothing shows on the faceplate. I stuck a CD in, and it takes it, but will not auto play it. It does eject the CD. Nothing on the lcd display, no buttons work, nothing. It does take and eject CD's though.
Could it be a defective faceplate? I'm positive that my wiring is correct.

If it's possible, run another known working deck on the same wiring config. you have for the Sony. This is a super easy way to confirm if it's the deck or wiring (or other). You could also hook it up to a power supply if you know anyone that has one (perhaps a local shop?).

Well, we just exchanged the unit for another one. I re-did all the wiring and getting the same problem. The model is CDX-GT21W.
Really not sure what to do. I tried grounding the unit directly to the battery, and other places. It is getting power when I plug the harness in. However, it will not turn on and the screen on the faceplate stays blank. Not sure what else could be causing this. The 30 radio fuse in the truck is fine, and also the 10 Fuse on the unit.

Nah, didn't bother with that wire.
Im just going to take it into the shop.
GM said something about a Body Control Module that might be messing things up. This is why I love my 86 Regal, no electronics to mess with!
