How can you make a post like this?

1st) Requirements for a home sub/woofer is COMPLETELY different then a car.. A large open space like a room doesn't have the gain like the small closed enviroment of a car.

2nd) The home utopia woofers t/s are different then the car woofers. If you compare the 15" car and home drivers.. car/home fs = 35hz/24hz Vas = 122L/318L's QTS = .47/.35 There very different woofers, with different design theorys.

Focal recommends both a sealed and a ported design.. My personal opinion is that the ported design for the 27wx isnt very good at all, And with the power that greyz34 has, it will easily make up for the slightly less efficent sealed design..

</font>[/QUOTE]You are absolutely correct.
I was under the impression that the home/car drivers were more similar to one another than they actually are. I still vote for ported due to the driver's low QTS.

yeah I'm still stuck on this cause vented will be louder and more transient but sealed will handle more power and play lower. Hmm...decisions, decsions.

actually sealed generally has better transient response.. Of course a properly designed ported box can have good transient response, just for the most part it wont be as good as the sealed.

Really? I thought the sealed box handled more power becuase of the trapped air acting as a suspension.

Well according to instructions that came with the subs...the vented box seems like a regular joe-blow box. Just a port drilled in the top... See here

Since the picture for both sealed and vented are the same couldn't i just build the box sealed and if I don't like it just drill a couple of ports later for a vented box?
