10 Gauge wire enough for my amp 400 Watts RMS
I only have 10 Gauge wire for my amp right now its a pioneer GM-D7400M its running at 2 ohms 400 Watts do you think moving to 4 gauge wire will have any effect on it, my last amp was a 300 Watt and used to cut out when turn it up till about 22-23 on the volume with this new amp I can have it to about 25-26 before it shuts itself off, so I got a feeling the wire is fine for now Its seems like it is getting close to the 400 Watts through the wire without and troubles I just think my amp is abit to weak for my sub.
What are your thoughts, I would upgrade the wire but I think we are getting a different car in the next while.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I really want to know is do you think it will go abit louder with thicker wire?
And do you know where I can get a power wire and fuse from I dončt need a whole kit and there is not many good stores around me.

10 ga is way to thin i wouldnt go any less than 8ga i think hoestly 4ga is the best bet for you it will let you upgrade in the future...... i would use your 10 ga for subwoofer wirelouder.... well it should get louder as you will be able to transmit more power without it cutting out..... and there are lots of vendors on here than can get you a decent kit hell even wal.mart has an ok kit for 50 bux hope this helps ya

I can't remember ever running less than 4 ga for power wire. Better to be safe than sorry. Electrical fires .... NOT COOL.

The Manual for the amp says to use 8 Gauge for less then 18 feet so I don't think 10 Gauge would make much difference, plus I took it to a car audio shop here in my town and the guy that does the install said it should be fine with 10 guage.
