Kenwood (Excelon series)
JL
Clarion
Focal
MTX
Pioneer
JBL
Rockford Fosgate
Orion

All of these companies (and there are others I forgot to mention) have units in that price range....warranties are generally 1 year or more....the key point is how they sound to your ears.

I was looking for specific models. I am not a noob when it comes to car audio. I have a decent amount of knowledge. However, I understand and love your point. Systems SHOULD be designed around your likes as you'll be the one listening to it.

I don't think I implied you were a newb......once you get out there and start listening, you will get all the model #s you could ask for. In any shop around T.O. there will be models on display that fit that price range, once you hear something you like get the model # of that one....after that it's just a question of how much they cost at a given location.....new speakers will have the manufacturers warranty for backup and you can ask here for opinions on the support offered by the shop itself......

If you get a chance, listen to the Focal's. But ultimately it is your design, you decision.

It is what sounds best to your ears.
