I was just wondering who liked what in terms of component sets, without going into the $1k range. AKA Focal, MB Quart, etc.
I listen to alot of Metal so I want a good set of component speakers that arent too bright. I already Have a older set of Kicker Resolution 5 1/4" and I like them alot, but was going to retire them to the rear and pick up a new set of components for my front stage. Any ideas?

I like Alpine's Type X and Diamond Audio Motorsport series.

I listen to stuff like Fear Factory, SYL, SOAD and whatnot, and I really seemed to like metal tweeters with that stuff rather than soft dome.

I would have to say for what you seem to like the Rockford Power Series (they can play very loud and take a beating) and the Kickers.

You can get a set of Alpine Type X components for a very reasonable price, and they can compete with many sets that are priced closer to a grand IMO.

The crossover that comes with the Type X is the best crossover (in terms of tunability) I have seen that comes with a boxed set of components, other than the F1 crossover of course.

Maybe I will go with the Type X's since I can get them at cost

If you can get them at cost go for them.

I love my CDT EF-CFi set, but maybe thats because I got them dirt cheap, making it all that much sweeter.

I'd just suggest staying away from metal tweeters. don't know who I'd suggest but metal just always seem bright, harsh or unrealistic.
