Hello Everybody I recently picked up an interest in car audio and I have a couple of questions that I think you guys can help me with.

I plan on getting a set of component speakers for the front seats and a 2 channel amp to power them, unplugging the stock backseat speakers until I can afford coaxials and a 4 channel amp for them, and installing 2 12in subs in the trunk. My budget is limited.

The component speakers I plan on getting are Alpine SPR-60C type R and they push 110w rms @ 4ohm with a peak of 330w per speaker

The amp I plan on getting is a Pioneer PRS-D800 and it is rated for 125w rms @ 4ohm with a max of 600w

First, will the peak wattage of 660 for the set of components have any effect on the max watt rating of 600w for the amp?

Next, Is 125w rms too much for the component speakers?

And lastly, is there a better amp that would power these component speakers more efficiently and effectively? (in the same price range if possible)

I would suggest something like a multi channel JL audio slasher series amp.
Beware of the fake RMS ratings on amps. It is not all about the power ratings anyway, but the distortion, build, reputation, etc.

125 ws is not too much too power the speakers because you need power for dynamic headroom (peaks) but you also do not want to fry the speakers by not using common sense. Heat and distortion kill more speakers than power.

But use the power responsibly .
