Help with my Silverado sound system! Not happy with it. Advice needed

Hey guys, I’ve had this system for the past three months and I’m not very fond of it..
Especially the Kicker Sub. It doesn’t hit hard at all and with some low bass songs it sounds like I may be using a little boom box. I was wondering if the system that I have set up should be sounding great or if what I’m getting is expected from this kicker sub.
In my old truck I had an Alpine type S 12” amped, not sure if my expectations are too high.

Also with my amped Alpine Type R speakers I’m not getting any bass what so ever. Was wondering if that’s normal or if the guy I had set my system up tuned the speaker amp wrong.
I have a Chevy Silverado 2008 Crew Cab.
The sub is under the passenger seat on the driver side.

I know it maybe hard to understand what I’m trying to explain with the quality of the sub, sorry! I just hoped for the money I spent I’d be getting at least as good bass as I didn’t from the type s.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Also if you think what I’m getting out of the kicker is expected any suggestions on a better shallow sub would be great!
But I’m not looking to spend more then $450 on a sub & box, hopefully it could use the same amp I have now.
I’ve heard Sun Down and polk have some shallow subs but not sure which models and what box to use or custom needed .

Listed below is my system:

The first thing I noticed is your amp only produces not more than 80watts due to its 80amp fuse which is inadequate in my opinion. Secondly I am a firm believer in more space more bass, I would get an enclosure that fits underneath the rear seat.

I don't usually recommend prefab boxes but Obcon makes a box for your truck and they make quality enclosures.

For subs, Skar audio is having a pre-sale on their shallow mount sub line and it looks promising. They will be scheduled to arrive August 25th but if you can't wait the sundown's would be the next choice.
Skar Audio VD Series 8/10/12/15 "500 Watt" Shallow Subwoofer P - Skar Audio - SSA Car Audio Forum $250 pair

With the left over money I would upgrade your amp to an Audiopipe APSM, I personally clamped one and it did 1134watts with a starting impedance of 1ohm rising to 1.7 dropped to 13.4 volts.
New Audiopipe Apsm 1500 1500W Mini Design Mono MOSFET Car Amplifier APSM1500 784644415849 | eBay $124

Total for subs, amp and box is $464 which is $15 dollars over your budget but well worth it.

Thank you for all that info! But I'm wanting to keep my space under my other two seats as I use a lot of space. I was wondering if there's a box that you recommend would fit one of the skar subs?
Also which size do you recommend?
Would I be getting into the same situation with one sub as I am now with the kicker if I only get one sub?
Last question! If I get the one skar sub and box would I need a new amp if so which do you recommend?
Sorry for all the questions I have no clue about sound systems.
Thanks!

The maximum allowable space you are willing to give up would determine the size of sub I can recommend. Get a measuring tape and give me dimensions in inches for Length, Width, Height.

Before we go and start changing equipment, how about a little troubleshooting?

First check all your crossover points. The sub should be on low pass around 70-80hz or so. The midbass should be on high pass around 70-100hz.

Play a song with decent bass. While it's playing, pull the blue remote wire out of the sub amp so it shuts off. Do you now have more bass or less than when it was on?

Next, while that bassy song is playing, balance left to right. Do you have more bass when balanced to one side?

If you have more bass balanced to one side with no sub, then one of your midbass is out of phase. Change one of the midbass wiring polarity - quite easy at the amplifier, just swap the wires positive for negative on one side only. Listen again while balancing left to right to make sure it is better than before.

Now hook your sub amp back up. Still no bass or is the problem fixed? If still no bass, try changing the wiring polarity on the sub. You should get more or less bass one way over the other.

Report back.

When did fuse rating start matching amp output??

That would be one inefficient amp if 80 amps at 12-14 volts only nets 80 watts audio output....

ooops it was early when I typed that yesterday lol
14.4 volts x 80 amps = 1152
1152 x .7 (70% efficient amp) = 806.4 watts
Does not account for voltage drop or box rise.
