Mono or multichannel

Mono or multichannel
I want to put two 10's under the rear seats of my 2000 GMC Sierra Ext Cab. Question is do I want to buy a two channel amp or a mono amp ? Can you run two subs from a mono amp ? Which is the best way to go for SPL dual or single voice coil subs. Was told to use single voice coil. I have very limited space under seats but know that efx makes 10 inch subs that will fit. Any suggestions. Sorry for being out of the loop but in my day Soundstream Class A 10.0 was about the best Amp and SPL 160's the best subs but hanve heard things have changed. Any suggestions ??

..And the earth moved
You can connect as many subs to a mono amp, as you want.
If you go with Dual Voice Coil subs, it will give you the ability to connect each coil, of each woofer, in series (in which case impedance is added) or in parallel (in which case impedance is calculated as a parallel formula 4x4/4+4 =2 ohms
Using a combination of both formulae, you can connect as many speakers to the amplifier.
for SPL you need power and cone surface area.
2-10's or 4-8's ? hmm., I'd go with 4 8's .
As I'm not too familiar with your ride, or the type of cabinet that can be built with the space provided, how much air space do you have to work with under the seat?

The best way to go for SPL in that vehicle given your limitations of under the seat, is going to be a single driver like a DD3510 (dual 4 ohm coils) and custom build the proper slot port box for the space available. Then power the snot out of it with about 1500w rms of power into 2 ohms.
