I got a 4 channel amp. I dont really wanna use 2, cause im running on a stock Escort alternator. Im just curious as to what you all think would sound better.
Equipment:
Kenwood X889 HU
CDT 61 6.5" front spkrs
Stock rear fill
MTX 564 70w x2 rms ( front stage ) and 280wx1 rms ( for sub of my choice )
And then a 12" sealed...if I choose sub and no rear fill
Aprpeciate it guys....BTW I listen to rock mostly...

^x2.
If you stay away from a sub you might as well put some dedicated midbass speakers in the front doors also and have the 4 channel running the front only. I have a midbass/midrange set-up in the car and it is a zillion times better than having the 4 corners running (ps - when I say a "zillion", I am not exagerating). Front soundstage is where its at.
but IMO - put in a sub!

What speakers are you considering?
What year Escort?
Generally, the same dollars spent on front stage only, will result in a nicer sound than dividing your cash between the 4 corners.
Adding a bit more mid-bass (appropriately rolled off) in the rear, once you can hear just what's missing, might not be a bad idea for the future.
The "best" system designs are never finished, but let you stop with a "complete" system without having to say "It'll sound good once I get......"
A good set of components, and a sub, is the way to go.
I agree with Dukk, that a good 10" ported will be better than a sealed 12"....considering the power you have, and your musical taste.

Just a suggestion.....since you already have the amp, and deck, choose a nice set of components, and get it all working. Then you can try various different sub/box combos (most shops will let you try their demo's if you ask nicely) and choose the combo that sounds the best to your ear, in your car.
