Would a tear in a surround effect performance?

Would a small tear in a 12W7 sub surround effect performance? I have had luck with repairs to other tears in mids with Goop, but with the extreme pressures of a sub like a W7 would it effect performance?
Can a new surround be bought or can it be replaced?

I doubt you can get a new surround unless you get the entire subwoofer reconed. I talked to JL Audio before and you are looking at 450 dollars or so which is a complete rip off.
As long as the tear isn't huge, I would go ahead and goop it. Goop is some strong stuff and I'm pretty sure it'd be alright.
Good luck,

Agreed...
just make sure its a good bond... if the tear opens back up while its pounding away, it could get alot worse....
Edit: I don't suppose JL would just sell you a cone assebly or a box of parts or even just a surround (but it can't hurt to ask)
Tell them you are poor and you saved up for the sub forever, and you cant afford to pay $450 for a recone... just do a little crying and it might work out for you...
