best subwoofer(s) for rock music question?

The choices here are endless. I run a single DD9510F and it works great for me. I started off with a pair and elected to take one out because it simply was not needed. The sound quality is very good (once I got it tuned right that is) and it really cranks when needed (it can rattle your fillings loose). It took me a few enclosures to get it right because of space constraints, this is in a quad cab truck that has no space behind the rear seats. I eventually built a box that sits on the floor behind the drivers seat and fires to the passenger side with the port firing out the rear of the box. I listen to rock mostly, a lot of Eagles etc. and some newer rock stuff. I think that any well made sub can be good for daily sound quality and SQL provided the enclosure is built properly and tuned for the application. I don't get where people claim that a 15" is needed for deep bass, my little 10" plays very deep and does it well.

reality is, most tens will play low enough to make most people happy. (I'm not in that group)

Yes a 5" can play as low as a 15" can, it just cannot do it with the same amplitude. If the 10 or 12" however is designed to play that low, it will offer stunning results, as indicated in the post above your with the DD 9510F. After that it is all about the box, as evidenced, try a couple of boxes to get what you need to do it right.

Another thing to consider here is available power. My 9510 needs a lot of it to do it's thing properly. "If" I was limited to say a 500 watt amp, then my sub would be better off used as a very heavy paperweight. Just another thing to consider when choosing a sub, is what you have or plan to have available to feed it.

ya I'm thinking of going that way. I called clarion today for more info on their signature series subs. and after talking to a guy, we both agreed they are not a good match for me and my amp... at least he was honest
