LOC Suggestions/Opinions

I am in the process of amassing parts to upgrade the stock sound system in my 2007 Mazdaspeed 3. I wish to keep the stock head unit and am doing research on a good quality LOC solution. The stock head unit only has speaker level outputs for front and rear speakers.

I have looked at JL's & Alpine's offering, though their stuff appear to be a nice units, they are budget busters for my needs. I am trying to upgrade the system to a respectable budget system. So far, I have a set of Infinity Kappa 680.9CS for the front doors, a set of Infinity Kappa 683.9CF for the rear doors and an Infinity Kappa 100.9w for the sub, all will be powered by an Infinity Kappa FIVE amplifier. I have 2 AudioControl EQLs from a previous install they will be employed to EQ the front and rear door speakers. I also have an AudioControl Epicenter for the sub.

I selected the Infinity Kappa items based on a very good experience on a friend's system I recently installed. He and I were both surprised at how well everything was made and the end result way exceeded our expectations. He had the luxury of a head unit that was aftermarket and had RCA outputs for everything (Front, Rear & Sub out), which I do not have.

Does the AudioControl LCQ-1 sound like the way to go as far as a LOC solution, to you folks? Other LOCs will gladly be looked at, but I'd like to keep the cost of the LOC in the $150.00 USD price.

Thanks for your input!

The AC LCQ-1 is a good piece. If you don't need the EQ or Accubass, the LC6i is a good option too.

Thanks for the info & reply posts.

I did a lot of surfing/research and found something that kind of surprised me. I saw a used AudioControl (AC) LC7 LOC (not an LC7i!) which has been discontinued by AC and I found an Oxygen Audio (OA) O-LD6 LOC, which is a re-badged AC LC7. It has the exact same internals and functionality as the discontinued AC LC7. The kicker was that a new OA O-LD6 was half the cost of what a used AC LC7 cost. So, I ended up getting on of the OA O-LD6 units and it came with the wired remote. Something that had to be bought separately if you went with the AC product. I forgot to mention that the OA unit has a set of AUX Inputs too boot!

I'll let you know how the install goes once I get it started and eventually done.

L8R!
