I can't wait until it's ready for commercial use!

Interesting that your dad installed what was basically the very first kind of security system installed into cars. A delay system with a switch. Corvettes starting in 1974 had a key-operated alarm. It had what looked like a typical door lock on the front right fender, and before that it was at the back that looked like a trunk lock (Corvettes of that era had no trunk lid). Anyway, your setup is simple and effective so long as you rememeber it's active. Those 36 seconds though can be used to still do smash n' grabs.

That texting to your phone thing is for sure a cool idea. Reminds me of what Alpine did back around 20 years ago with their Communicator. If you had an Alpine high-level alarm like the 8080 and an Alpine car phone, the Communicator box would phone your home or whatever number you programmed into the car phone and would let you know your car is being broken into.

lol well hes an auto mechanic and he has ripped out many expensive alarms due to malfunction or shortages after shortage. so from his experience he says itd not worth getting a good one installed, its only good til it starts to mess up and then there a pain. his opinion not mine

i had a guy reach into my van through the passenger window while i was sitting at a bussy intersection waiting to turn left, he was going for my smokes of all things! i grabbed his arm and proceded to floor it around the left turn and let him go halfway through the intersection for him to roll on his face......good times!

i also had my old system ripped outa my old car, they peeled my door like a spam can and i never got anything from insurance.
