I'm sure there is some comprimise that can be made about the shows.. if they are booked on the same date - if they are far enough away from each other it shouldn't really effect the turn-out too much..

One option may be to try to stagger the times a little so competitors can goto both events, (have one start at 11AM, and the other start at 4-5PM). And just make sure that the promoter/judge of the 1st event knows about it so they can get started rigth away and get people going.

Many people have stepped up this year to make more dbdrags happen. So it looks like it will be a popular year. Maybe some of the above can team up to bring Ontario a 2x/3x.

Downtown Sounds in Brantford Ontario has 4 shows coming up starting in June which will be booked shortly (I'd rather wait for them to be on the dbdrag site before I open my mouth, I will however answer PM's about it)

EXACTLY!!!

Richard,

I believe the post that I wrote covered that! Shows with shops and sponsers take longer to finalize so it is hard to discuss it with others or book it to avoid booking the same as others.

The perfect example is June 10th. You and I were trying to get things organized at the same time. The shop and sponsers that I have, have been working with me since last August. dB Drag was a for sure right from the start. It took a long time to finalize IASCA and NESPL between me, the sponsers and the orgs. We were able to book the dB drag event a couple of months ago because it was easy.

Will the real Slim Shady please stand up...
IMO here is where the shady comes out
I recall CSPL and it's debut. Chris B and Chris C were putting on dB Drag events that kept us busy every weekend. All of the former shops that hosted dB Drags were now hosting CSPL events instead. CSPL would not allow pros to compete. Both Chris and Yuli suggested doing dB Drag events with the CSPL events allowing pros to compete and help those in CSPL. DENIED.
Why is it okay now a couple of years later?
As for June 10th, after our event was already booked, your schedule came out. Doesn't it seem a little bit shady that the ONLY 2x CSPL is booked on this day?

It is great what you are doing for the competitors and car audio competition in Ontario. I would try to be careful with what you say and do because it can go against you and we dont want to see that. Allow others to help the industry as well. Hats off to the dedication of Yuli and Chris year after year. They deserve the credit for dB Drag in Ontario.

Back on Topic...

Nick, make it happen!

Nick if most of your shows are around kingston like the june 10th then you have my vote and i will be attenting each and every one of them ...
but if your shows are in the same area as Richards DB Drag shows then i would agree with Chris B and have them at different hours ... i'm doing everything this year to make it to finals and any points i can pickup would be great ....
Not to offend either one of you ... the closer show to me will be the one i attend if on same day ... You gotta understand i'm driving from Montreal !
And Nick one things for sure and i'm sure this will be agreed upon by allmost everyone is that no matter distance or date nor time your 2x and 3x events take priority on all others !!
We are all happy that DB Drag is hitting full force this year and hope that this is just a start!
BTW Thanks for the show in kingston ... finally i get a break on a long *** drive !

Nick it might not cost so much this year to have a 2x or 3x as im talking with Sam Horn to set up which date is good for me to train with him.

There is going to be a certified Judge in Ontario finally!

Here are my thoughts on the subject.

In the end if we all work together - that's when the best results will come. Although sometimes it isn't always possible. In 2005 I had given up on hosting shows - but due to shop, distributer, manufacturer and competitor support, that was short lived.

When I am contacted in regards to hosting a show - I first ask the person contacting me to take a look at the calendar on termpro, cca, chris-mel.com, etc to try to avoid conflicting dates for shows. Then I tell them which days I have shows already booked. This then will leave it up to them to decide on dates. Then if I am available and everything works then I will accept to run the shows or not (many things are incorporated in that decision - availability, distance, logistics, plans, etc) Hence why I may turn down 1 place to do a show, but be able to do another on the same date.

Ideally it would work better for everyone to have every show on a different date, but unfortunately that is not going to happen. We need to work together as much as possible.

I remember back in 2004 when I had a show booked for months in advance, another shop which was very close decided to book a show the same date. We called that shop and explained them the situation and tried to come up with a compromise to stagger the start times so people could attend both. They were very arrogant and difficult and would not work with us at all. Fortunate enough the day of the event we had 20+ competitors, the other shop had < 10.

So pretty much to sum it up, if possible we should avoid double booking days for shows, and if we do if they are close together stagger the start times so competitors can goto both. If they are not close together than it should not matter. If this is not possible then you just need to do what's best for the people involved with the show.
