If you really want to be schooled in the car audio arts, my suggestion is to spend the 5K on tools and apply at an FS that does some quality custom work. You will learn more there in a year than you could learn in a lifetime at a school. Plus you will be getting paid intead of paying.

I just said FS because you will GENERALLY see a larger amount of different makes and models there. I know a few high end shops that quote high so they don't get to do the "questionable" cars. Really Visions, A&B, and some independants are all good places to start, but more independants want people with most of the basics down pat more often than chains.

^ Pretty much. I used to tell every aspiring installer that they should do a nice clean tight install in their own ride - does not have to be fancy - and let prospective shops look at it. Shows pride and workmanship.
When I moved to BC I got hired without ever meeting my 'new' boss. I had built my g/f car and she drove it around out here (she was out here for University) from shop to shop. Worked

It's definitely something i'd love to do in the future.. I have no areal career path.. I'm currently studying to be a music teacher.. but given the current work placements out in my area, there's no way I'll get a job as a music teacher, unless one dies, and i beat the other 3 billion applicants dead with a stick. I've dont lots of installs for beer, or dinner It's always fun when you dont have to pay for the gear I'll definataly have to look into that! Thanks man
