Coming July-August 2009 to one of my dB Drag.......

This show will contain:
-dB Drag
-Bass Race
-dB Dons all out SPL challenge

The all out SPL challenge is a side event held along side one of my (possibly certified) dB Drags called "dB Don's all out SPL challenge"(no affiliation to Pinks) But inspired by Dale.(Cuusssstomm!)

-One class with spl & point=total score, (Highest score wins)
-Regular Bass Race rules with these exceptions:
-Both front doors must be wide open
-You must be outside the vehicle during the run.
-You can run as many times as you like. $50.00 entry for this one event though.
-You take your SPL score during the run and add your frequency points for total score.
-Points are given from peak frequency during the run. 80hz=0 point, 79hz=1 points, 78hz=2 points, etc......

For example:
If you Bace Race a 140 dB with both doors open and your peak note was 50 hz you get 30 points to add for your total score of 170 points. The next guy up may be louder with a Bass Race score of 150 dB but his note is 60 hz which would give him the same final score.

This type of competition requires a well rounded sub bass set-up to win. To win you must be LOUD & LOW. Most importantly willing to demo the system during the show.

Now I know this type of system is tough to make because I have been researching this type of competition for years as this type of show would be by far my favorite.

Thats why First prize is going to be a minimum of $1000.00 for this side event with the possibility of being even higher with money being added to 2nd and third places. I will not be competing for the prize so you need not worry about me. I will be running the dB Drag show so someone else will be running this side event mic.

The dB Drag and Bass Race will still be the main event and I want to make it a certified event so people can still get certified scores.

Event will be in my area and exact date will fall between July-August. I just want you guys to have a full year to build for this show. Exact details will be given as the event is laid out.

TY

Just for fun what you think your total score would be at the end? Me, I can say I have done 149 bass race at 36 hz before my amp went to amp heaven.
What I can say I have done before, not impressive but its another example to go by.
149db+44 points for 36 Hz=193 points

But some street vehicles would easily beat that if they were tuned low, so you don't always have to have a massive system to win, it helps but not always needed.

You guys run some numbers and you will see what I mean. Also the $1k is the minimum that will be given out. I am working on possibly more but I don't promise anything.

This is the first small step toward making your spl hobby pay you back for all your years of dedication. This will be one dB Drag event not to miss.

Will probably take place in my home town of Borden and probably sponsored in part by a Hotel/Bar so there will be a pre-party and an evening party between the days(yes 2 day event)

Well not sure yet as waiting for some power but would run at least a 49 at 50 hz with the small power I have now (1400 watts) But tune it lower and run upwards of the power I'm waiting for and would love to see a 159 at 40 or lower hehe... but gives alot of time to get ready for this... I know a guy with some jl stuff who could run at least 139 at 27 hz with 3000 watts so there is a good run for the money if he steps up the power..

sx4life 08-17-2008 09:40 PM

sadly I wouldnt hit that number don. I am hittin 46hz @ about 145db I think...
so :
145+34= 179

dB Don 08-17-2008 10:05 PM

I won't be competing in it though. If you block off your trunk and seal it with wood/deadener you could easily bass race 145 and re do the enclosure to peak lower and your up there. 4th order it or TL ported will work for your vehicle. I will be at the store again this winter and will have more time I hope. Come by and I can explain what I mean.
