Hello From The New Guy
Hi Everybody. My name is John and have been interested in car audio from sometime now and have decided to give spl a try this year. For a long time I have been reading the posts on here and have learned alot.I hope by now being a member I can learn even more.I drive a 90 integra with 2 10 inch alpine type r's and an alpine 500 watt amp.Not much right now but I think I can be good with this stuff for now.Can anyone offer me any tips ideas or wisdom on how to be good in spl?I've been to several shows and watched how it is done and think I have the idea but it seems like you all have different ideas on what is"loud".There is a guy with a black car that seems to be at all the shows I go to.I think he knows what he's doing. And that guy with the cavilier with the l7's in the back seat did good last time I saw him in red deer.there was also this blazer with a really neat paint job and this big wall of square subs but I only saw him that once. That thing was cool.I hope to learn alot by asking alot of questions.I hope you all dont mind.Bye for now.

well hello John. great to see that there is someone new at the game. Best thing for you to do is to come out to shows....near and far....and meet the competitors and ask questions. learn new things and get many many opinions. there is more than one way to skin a cat so youll get alot of opinions and there are many possibilities to getting louder.
1) electrical. most guys will upgrade thier electrical not only to give you instant power, but also to give you reserve power for when you really go big and loud. this could be anything from wires to batts to connections, etc. 2) power. make sure you have good equipment with good power capabilities. you will notice certain comminalities when it comes to spl....powerful amps and powerful speakers. controlling that power is just as important. 3) box design this could very well be the most crucial part. each car is individual and each set up is individual. you box needs to be catered to your specific car.this means alot of trail and error and alot of testing and adjusments. having mic time will become important. whether its at a show or its having a mic at home(or knowing someone that owns a mic). 4) Burping learn how to burp by watching what others do it. there is a technique they use to keep thier electrical up...thier amps powerful and thier scores loud. practise makes perfect and asking questions will bring wisdom in this area. dont give up. slowly you'll become louder it take alot of money, time, effort and investment to really become loud. most importantly ......have fun....win or lose.....have fun. see you in the lanes. good luck and keep us posted on your scores. |
welcome to the board.

Hey Big Cheif, are you from Red Deer? Kinda sounds like it, but anyway, the guy with the L7's in the back seat of a cavalier was 8 Track. He was in SS No-Wall, doing 148's, and at the Red Deer show he had a wall and did 150.2 dB. The Blazer was Garry Zuffa, in SS 5+ he wasn't loud at all, he only topped out at 151's. As for the black car I have no idea who that could have been.
So welcome to the board, and start asking if you want to start learning. |
black car could have been seege?
