need a custom box made-BC

im looking for a custom built box for 2 12s, ported. im from surrey but im willing to go a bit out of my way to get it. I contacted a local shop but they're charging $300, looking for something cheaper.

anybody know of somebody?? or an online store...

Make it yourself. Even prefabbed boxes are going to run 250+. There are some very knowledgable members here on CCA and I'm sure they can help you with a design if you're not well versed in that sort of thing. First thing they are going to ask is what subs are you using, what amp are you using (aka how much power), and the vehicle (aka the maximum dimensions you have to work with)

I'm either going with type-r's or dc lvl 3's. it all really depends on how much the box will cost. it'll be going in an 08 altima sedan. im aiming for 1000-1200 watts.

I dont have the tools or the time otherwise I would attempt too.

Also if somebody out-of-town/province is willing to build it I can pay you via paypal and you can ship it.

New or old type-r's?

Shipping will cost you a fortune! It's going to be cheaper locally. Shop around for places that have experience with the outcome that you're looking for.
Experience costs money as does a tablesaw, drill, screws, glue, silicone & wood. If you're lucky, you can find a back yard guy to do it for a couple of hundred.

get the subs you want first, then talk shop. I could slap together a box, but it would still be a generic box unless you already had subs to get dimentions for.

best bet is to get a prefab ported bassworx box. there's lots around locally used for $50-$100, and they actually sound quite nice in just about every car I've heard one in.
I think there's one on Vancouver civics right now for $40 if it isn't already gone.

Home depot will do all your cuts for next to nothing. here in brampton they garuntee a cut down to 1/8th of an inch.. thats very workable especially because MDF has some flex to it. i built a HUGE box 32" by 32" by 15" tall for 4 10" DVC 2ohm type R's box in total including screws and glue. $70.. im carpeting it today. should stay under 100 bucks after its all said and done. as far as choosing your subs.. neither of those types will get full response out of a basswork box.. alot of people stick by them but there really generic and you can get way more bass for your buck designing a proper box for your subs. i flex my winsheild. front and rear. and my doors impload in and out 1/4 of an inch on a tight 06 VW. im only running 1800 watts to all 4.. they like to idle at 500 a peice and get nasty around 1000 - 1500.. when i upgrade to a huge amp ill probably lose my back winsheild.

1) what does your vehicle meter??? we got 2 10" type r's in a bassworx box to burp a 146.1 on a mtx 1200.1 and the car off IN a PT Cruiser with 1 yellowtop(grp 34) battery. oh and@ 47 hz. the subs and amp were in the cargo area and the rest of the seats were fully functioning(street a)

we also got a bassworx box loaded with treo 2 -12" to burp a 148.2 in a civic. they have pretty good response I would think.

2) 4 10s Should make any car doors move-----especially a small one like a vw

3) THIS GUY HAS NO TIME, TOOLS, and is obviously thrifty. nobody in their right mind is gonna build him a free box. yes your materials cost you $100, but how much time did you spend on the box??? my time/tools are worth $30/hr, and that's less than half the going shop rate.

I was just suggesting a cheap alternative that he would be fairly happy with.

We charge $350.00

It's actually cheaper than the $300.00 price, because we'll do it right the first time.
