I want to know if I can have a amp mounted to the top of my box... it will be higher than my rear windows and I think I read something about not being able to do that, cant remember if it was db drag, or what. I believe I will be running in street C as it is, and dont wanna be bumped up to the next division because of an amp mounted too high.

Equip:
4 x 12" GTi's
2 x 1200.1's
2 x batteries
1 4 channel amp
1 crossover

Thanks in advance,
Cory

Having your amp mounted above the window line would put you in Street Max

Uh, doesn't the Street classes stop at two 12's? Four 12's would be Streetmax 3-4 I thinks, wouldn't it?

How strict are they on that rule? I know im close, I think my rubber surround might be a bit higher. Also, I'm gonna mess around with my ports and might be screwing a 1/2 inch piece of MDF to the top which would prolly put me a bit higher...

they can and probably will do a string test. I am in the same boat. I need to change my install to stay in Street A or I will be bumped.

Take the amp off and throw itto the side man!
Otherwise about the surround... if it doesnt look like its over the window line, then i bet they wont test. but if it looks kinda sketchy then they'll pull out the ol string.
On my wall im 1/8th away from passing the B-Pillar! (thats the other string test location)

I lucked out, the amp fits behind my seats, if it was 1/4 inch higher the seat would hit...

But i dont think that matters now, im pretty sure im gonna be screwed for the string test, I'll have to check tomm.
