Things you'd like to see : Bassrace

-- drive through competition - this of course would be location size dependant, but backing the vehicles up after a race , slows things up and makes a "on deck" line impossible almost.

-- reaction time recorded , best time could have lane choice. I figure with ppl being left or right handed and leaning left or right to see the usually centered starting screen , some ppl may have a preference?? Plus ,more STATS :cheeky4: bragging rights:smokin:

-- dual or multiple location real time events.. Why is it that 2 shows, say one in Ontario and one in Quebec.. or anywhere and anywhere... Canada/USA ;) link up with computers/network whatever etc. ( Geek help:thumbsup:)
and race against someone, without travelling 600km or whatever to do it?? Cameras/screens etc etc
This is 2010 man!!:eyes:

-- "Drivers meeting" or "Rule sheet" to make the process/rules, CLEAR..
ie. I had no idea the TL reset itself after 30sec on a tie.. :dunno:
"Read the rules" some may say, BUT, if you want new (ie-not privy to the rules in written form) ppl to come out and play on a whim, getting embarressed :hah: may keep some away...lol

I'm probably just complicating things but...:stroke:

You thought of any ideas recently?

Father Yuli 10-25-2010 10:17 AM

u can have reaction time of 0.00 if you hit play on SET, which u are supposed to do to get a good start.

would be hard to do it online, too many technical issues, or even different time zones.

what it really needs is for someone to step up and somehow get more people involved.

DaVibe 10-25-2010 10:30 AM

I like a lot of these ideas ... I've mentioned the online thing a lot, but again and again the guy's tell me its impossible.
I don't know, iPhones or iPads seem to make everything possible but ...

Bassrace Rules ... even a 1-page laminated fact sheet.
I mean, we take it for granted that everyone "knows" or someone's brief explanation is going to do it, but an organized company could offer rules on a form.
But yeah, we're not THAT organized :p

like the idea though ;)

Yuli, do you think if we had an Ipad in Ontario (or netbook, whatever) and the guys in the West had the same technology, we could run an event simultaneously?
I mean, isn't it as simple as that? And we share leader boards in real time.

Like talk lotsa sh!t and make people wanna build just to shut me up and/or take down TDS members??? lmao :cheeky4: We'll be in every class in no time.

I feel the class' sell themselves. After speaking to MANY people after our show, the general consensus was they loved Bassrace and would do it again at the next show. They went out and told others about it, then come to me in school bar and ask to clarify things that a friend asked them they couldn't answer. They are ing the word. Its all about ing interest... one way or another...

imagine connectiong the two together? also imaigne tryin to organize two locations to conduct their runs simultaniously? especially if they are in different time zones?

other than that, there is already a leader board in place. it just doesnt have live stats.

DaVibe 10-25-2010 11:15 AM

I know we have a leader board but the idea that we're competing with/against one another should be a pull for some competitors ...

It shouldn't be a hassle if you have set times ... the day might actually take longer but it could be done.
11AM ... 11:15 ... 11:30 ... so forth.

Let the fun begin. :D Get building, and shut me up. Maybe try one of your own designs?? :dunno:

Sorry OP, we can take this over to the TDS thread.

DaVibe 10-25-2010 11:31 AM

I think next year, Bass Race could out do SPL in Ontario.
Considering the interest in 29.9, 39.9 and maybe even a 49.9, that's a lot of classes with competitors ...

As long as people understand that you can basically compete in bass race with next to nothing. It's your own skill as opposed to your own equipment (and lack thereof). I mean, even next year maybe we should introduce the 19.9 like they do at some other competitions ...

head to head over the internet is a neat idea. it has been implemented but not without major technical hic ups, unfortunately.
