Thinking of quitting...

competing..

I've been competing since 2002, so that makes this my 6th year. It keeps getting more and more expensive and time consuming..

I have several small to mid accomplishments, nothing huge.. never really been able to go big and go all out..

and I just don't know if I have the drive to do it anymore..

I just dunno.. lol

what do you guys think?

NTOXKTD 07-23-2007 08:09 AM

ok what kind of post is that. Its like saying I think I am going to pick up a piece of paper, what do you think. You can't just put down 5 words and ask everyones opinion. What you should have said is I think I have had enough of this sport and I would like to focus on something else. Or something along those lines.

Edited first post for Mr Wade :)

Either way - I will still goto and judge some shows

I would have to agree with you bro,Mind you it will suck to see you go but I understand.I am also having the same problems. And now I hardly get the time to even go to shows.

why the downer ?

we all know how time consuming this sport can be and how expensive also but we all do it for a reason ... we love it !!

if you no longer enjoy doing this then my answer to your question would be quit and focus on something that gives you joy and just makes you happy!

but if you still enjoy this sport and all it requires then tough it out through the hard pass your going through and stick around ... better days are sure to come by again!!

we've all went through a "i want to quit" phase but all in all we are still here because we love this sport and are way too addicted to it to even get close to quitting ... you just have to find what makes you want to quit and work it out ...

just my 2 cents ... hope it helps!

In any sport you have to train etc. For example running, you should probably train 3-5 times a week for 1.5 hours a training session. That's 7.5 a week for a national competitor. Alot of people don't look at our sport that way, but what's the difference? If you cannot commit that amount of time, then maybe its time for a change. You could also think of it as the next stage in your career in SPL...mentoring, helping new competitors etc...cheers.

i say u stop crying if u cant handle the beif then just quit already.

spl legend 07-23-2007 11:10 AM

uh oh yuli's bringing out the freshly thawed beif....

don't quit until you've given it your all, then one day when you are looking back at your life you won't say "wow i wonder what would have happened if i just went that one step further"

see what i mean...

i hope this wasn't a cry for attention :gotooprah

ChrisB 07-23-2007 11:39 AM

no crying or whining, just stating my thoughts and wanting input.. :)

ya know what chris, yes it is expensive and yes it is time consuming but the question is...do you enjoy doing it? If you answer is yes then you keep going. If the answer is no then find something else that you can put your undivided attention to. If the answer is maybe then you are unsatisfied and you need to satisfy that thirst. That thing that keeps you wanting more. Don't walk away with the glass half empty.:smokin:
