Trophies or Certificates & cash

I want to do whatever is best for the competitors.

Some folks have discussed their favouritism towards cash as compared to "another trophy".

But what about the new people? Would they be ok winning a certificate that states their score, no matter how they've done?

I want to put some major fun back into shows. That will cost some good money. Here's my dilemma: spend $2000.00 on trophies and a few fun things; or, spend the same amount on cash giveaways, lots of fun stuff, free food & entertainment?

trophys !!!

Keith,
I am running into the same dilemma??? A couple of years ago the Western finals in Penticton did belts....It seemed like a great idea, until you got there and saw the belts (they were kidda cheesy...no offense). I like the idea of giving cetificates for everyone, and maybe a nice hang on the wall plaque for the 1st place guys... I also like the idea of cash prizes but seems to only appeal to the newbees (I don't know why?),
Luke,
Why trophies???

trophys are somthing you can have as an accomplishment and gives u the memorys that you accomlished somthing trophys are what drives the out of towners to come , im not in this for money nor do i care about a certficate or getting money this is somthing i do for fun want to have trophys to show off my accomplushments , when new competitors come to a show and see the awards they can win this gives them incentive to work towords somthing not just come out for a peice of paper , the awards are somthing that you can have to show your accomplishments and show what youve done and accomplished

Luke,
What about a real nice wall plaque with a the cetificate in the corner, stating the numbers you put up for the day, and the plaque would say 1st place somewhere. Or do you just want another trophy? I am not partial anyway, like Kieth I want what the majority wants.

Well I know for the shows in AB. I only expected to have the new certified certificates in a frame for people, a raffle entry towards the SMD 15 draw at the end of the year and for the 2x I have some medals but not for all formats.

I was thinking about doing a cash payback but will see how it turns out. I put alot of money this year into new monitor, tent, computer, etc.... So its pretty tight for me atm but I want you guys to have shows but without breaking me.

Luke has offered to help with donating items and that I am sure will be a huge help.

Triple pointers will always have the huge trophies so I am sure most are fine with that.

If we did a per class cash payout at 1x and 2x events how would you like to see it done. Given the entry is $30 for a single. Use 3 people in one class for an example as each class will be calculated separately.

wall plaques are cool to , im pretty partial to trophys tho its nice to get somthing cool back especially when your paying 500 bucks plus a trip to make it to a show

i like the idea of trophies where it counts 2x & 3x events but 1x cash would be alright with a certificate to show spl# and place#.
i have a room full of trophies, but its the certified shows that make it an achievment worthy of having something to bring home..just my .02.

agreed but when ur driving 5 to 10 hrs to get to a show its nice to get somthing in return the costs of theese trips is huge

How about those trophies from world finals? Not worth the drive in my opinion. He probably spent $700.00 on those.
