Where can I get a custom sub enclosure done?

Hi,

I want to get a sub installed in the rear hatch area of my Mazda Protege5. I want it behind the hatch left or right panel to save space.

Can anyone suggest a shop that could fabricate an panel/sub enclosure?

Thanks

Mike

There are a few skilled woodworkers here on the board. Have a look at some of the pictures and see for yourself.

I think one of them has gone pro (Maybe not recently, but I just noticed anyway). He is located in BC as are you.

There are at least 2 more I know of in ONT here.

I think you would get very good quality work from any of them based on the pics they have posted.

I'm deliberatly not posting names because the rules are if you are advertising as a commercial entity, then you should become a paying sponsor (my interpetation anyway). You can find them in 10 seconds with a search though.

Cheers!

thanks John,

I hadn't considered wood, i've seen some done with fibreglass covered in carpet to match the interior.

I am on the island and do this work. Not that you want to jump on the ferry and it's expense though.....

Most I have seen (unless injection molded-big bucks for mold-)are a combination of glass & wood.

Rob, the above poster has a very acidic wit, but I have never seen any complaints. He also quoted me a very good price on another piece of equipment and answered my questions no problem.

Cheers

thanks everyone that offered help, i'd like to keep it local if i can. i was quoted $700 just for the enclosure by one local shop, that would be for just a basic plain looking panel enclosure. is that the going rate?

Materials should be well under $100.00 unless it is some massive enclosure, so if the shop rate is $60.00 an hour, that would be 10 hours labor.

Could be I guess, especially if the enclosure was complex and needed multiple glass molds to get right.

it would take an intricit box to cost tha much... if its just a standard box, that fits in the back, thats too much. Talk to Norm at Absolute Car Audio!, There is also SOUNDGOOD, and DOSE AUDIO in coquitlam... there are many option on the coast!
