76 El Camino? or any older car really...

Hello, im new to the forum and pretty happy to have found this.

I try to do a lot of my own electrical work and car work since, i dont trust other people and its cheaper.

My newest project is a 76 El Camino.
Its my cousins, and he has a Avital 5303 Alarm that he wants to install on it.

So, after searching a bit, this is the only wiring diagrams that i have found -

i just wanted to see if there was anything i should know before i tackle installing a alarm like this (remote start) on a older car.
I never see alarms like this on older cars, i dont know if thats for a reason.

Does the PINK wire from the ignition switch count as a starter wire?
it goes to the coil, then the starter, i don't see one that goes straight to the starter, unless i add one.

Thanks for any tips!

I think your looking for the ppl/wht heading through NSS or just purple if your picking it off after the NSS. If the pink powers the coil, that should be the RUN circuit, not START.

Of course, test it before you hook anything up to it.

Pink is IGN. I would stop now.

Also, a remote start on a carbureted car is generally a challenge for a pro. I would reconsider trying to include this feature.

Ah, i didnt even think about the carb, well...that makes the install much cooler haha.

Assuming the car is an automatic (I really wouldn't attempt on a std), pickup one of these:

to set the choke, you'll want to wire it to a 30a relay then connect the relay to one of the aux channels on the RS. Just remember to hit the button for that channel before attempting to start. The car will need to be easy to start with just setting the choke obviously for this to work. If it's one of those where you have to pump the pedal while cranking to force a gallon of gas down it's throat, your out of luck.
