Alarm Malfunction
I have an old CrimeStopper CS-9702 in my 1993 Probe. 5 odd years ago, I was hardly ever driving the car, and the alarm would continually wear the car battery down. I disabled the alarm (or at least thought I had) with the provided circular key. The key fit into a lock under the dash, I turned and it shut down. Since then I have just used the ignition key to lock/unlock the doors.
Fast forward to now, I was replacing the headlamp assembly, and followed the instructions of disconnecting the negative battery terminal. After a couple tests, the alarm has now sprung back to life whenever the terminal is re-connected, and I have no way to shut it down. The old key fob's light illuminates when I press the buttons, but the alarm doesn't shut off, it runs continuously. Using the key under the dash like I did 5 years ago isn't working either, the keys may be damaged. Is there any way for a novice to manually disable the system so I can get the car running or do I need to get a tow to an audio shop for a pro to handle? |
There should be a valet switch to disable the alarm. Find the valet switch, turn on the ignition and press the switch and it should turn off the alarm.
