you can get an alarm for a car that doesn't have power locks. You can create power locks with actuators and using the alarm as the unlock/lock (what i did).

If you want you can have an alarm that doesn't lock the door, but you gotta be a lot more careful obviously.

I'm using a Compustar 2way FM Alarm Starter. When i worked downtown edmotnton on the 27th floor of hte Telus Building, I could start my Jeep 5 blocks away. From inside large theatres i've never had a problem starting my Jeep. Spots where i used to have trouble unless i was at the closest spot in the parkinglot to the building, the compustar does no problem at all (i can park at the other end of the lot if i need).

All in all, i'm very impressed with the compustar....outperformed anything i've ever had. That being said, no one's ever tried to take anything from my vehicle with it (knock on wood) - my last alarms did a good job of waking people up when dicks were try'n to take my stuff.

Keep in mind with the Compustar and all the other Firstech alarms (NuStart and Arctic Start) they do not use any type of random code technology. I know of people in Edmonton losing stuff because of this. The new Viper SST product also has 5000+ feet of range and using anti code grabbing no less.

The Viper 5900 is deffinately the best system out there right now, we have installed this unit in many cars and the range is awesome, much longer than the Compustar and much better on board features and the quality is second to none.
