Compustar or death. It is built from the ground up for a manual transmission vehicle.

HEY MR2NR
Is there any major difference between DEI and Compustar products - Mainly in the wiring such as: installation and being able to deceive thieves.

Also does the Compustar use a programmable car key module instead of the DEI version of 555U - where the spare key is left in the car?

I've always used & installed DEI products in the past vehicles and in my wife's Honda is a HORNET(DEI) alarm & remote start and it works flawlessly.

My Local shop 'Team All-tech installer' Adam says they ae rock solid and better then any DEI product.

Thanks
J

Compustar uses a keyless type of bypass module. There is no key necessary for all but a very few vehicles at this time. The modules are manufactured by Idata and called Idatalink. I would take a Compustar over any DEI made pile of junk and day of the week.

First off if yoyu ever installed a DEI product on a regular basis you would not call it junk. Compustar is good on manual cars and that's all I would ever use it on, but DEI is a far better product in terms of fail rates. I have installed numerous Compustar and DEI products and DEI is just plain better in terms of build quality. I have had many Compustar brains and remotes come back for warranty issues and not even half the issuse with a DEI product. The Compustar has better user features for standard vehicles, that's it. If you are looking for just an alarm system than the Viper 5002 is the best unit on the market hands down.

Selective Sound

I've always used DEI products in the past 2 vipers(one of the first talking ones) and currently in my wife's Honda is a Hornet with 0 problem except batteries on the remote.

I'm on the fence now

Thanks everyone

Where can you get the Viper 5002? What's it go for? I'm also trying to decide on an alarm. I had my mind set on a CompuStar PRO A/S but I think my needs at this point are with just the alarm rather than combo unit...
