Clifford doors locks stopped working
 

Short story. Both door lock actuators stopped working after the battery went dead.

I have a Clifford Ace 300, installed in 1997, with aftermarket lock actuators on the front doors. It was installed in a 1994 Jeep Cherokee.

A few weeks ago after it sat for about four days, it would not start. It was a dead battery (not sure why). After charging, still nothing. I pulled the fuses and relays and one in the engine compartment kinda sparked and everything seemed to work. It started, and alarm works...everything except the door lock actuators. So logically, something has happened to the door lock function since its both actuators. I've tried tried turning on and off the Auto lock/auto unlock function in the owners manual....but nothing.

Is there something else I can do to get them working? Is there a fuse for just the door locks or something? I've looked all over but can't find anything. The alarm has worked flawless for over 15 years, I'd like to keep it.

What you need to do is find the 2 relays that control the actuators(Usually will be in a kick panel). From there check and see if there is 12 volts on pins 86 and 87 on each relay. If there isn't see if there is a fuse inline on those leads and change the fuse and they should work again. If there is no fuse check the source of the 12 volts that the wire goes to and if there is no voltage on that wire, check all your factory fuses including the ones under the hood if applicable. If they are all fine your going to have to find a new 12 volt constant source, to power the relays. Once there is power to the relays take a test light or a piece of wire, ground it out to a solid piece of metal and touch pins 85 (just tap it don't hold it there) on each relay this will make the actuators work. If you succeed and the clifford system still isn't working then your door lock outputs on the brain are faulty.

Also, make sure the grounding point of terminals 87A on each relay is solid.

How did you make out?

Still working on it. I can see an aftermarket relay tied up with all the alarm wiring. But it's way up under the dash and it has about a dozen zip ties holding it up there. So, I'll hopefully get to it soon. Doesn't help that it's cold out and I don't have a place to work on it. I'm hoping it's just the relay that went bad.

I highly doubt its the relay.
