Compustar -GM Issues

I have had a Compustar Pro P2W9000FM-AS installed in my 2007 Chevy Cobalt SS/SC. The problem is they cannot get the remote start to function. Now the shop that did it has done my whole stereo and did an awsome job, there have been no problems at all, since I know how to install audio equipment but my fiberglass ability or lack there of and lack of time forced me to have someone professional do the install, I can tell by the waty they did it it was done right. So my point is combine that with the over all care and effort they put into trying to get the remote start to work (I think they have spent about 3-4 days out over time) means I don't for a second think its an install problem.
Now i may know how to install stereo equipment but alarms are like the dark side of the moon to me, so fom what i could gather they said the problem was an ignition module that that was supposed to put out 12 volts fluctuates between 2 and 12 volts its the power mangement system that the car has.
Does anyone know how to get around this, or any tricks to get this to work in my car ?
Also does anyone know a comppatable window rollup module for this alarm. I had it on my last car and really want it on this car but am unsure of what module will work with this alarm/starter
Thanks

If the car starts fine with the key, then it is the wrong bypass module they are using or they have not installed the unit properly.

Those cars are rather interesting.
There is no actual start wire.
When the computer sees the voltage drop from the accessory wire, it fires off the starter.
I'd suggest that you have the shop get an iDatalink module for your car.

We do have idata link modules in it.
This car, as much as I love it is a pain in the ass, the guys at the shop where I get the mechanical mods done knick named it "The Bitch" cuz it fights you every step of the way and even the simple tasks turn into long drawn out affairs.
The shop owner where I had the alarm installed is actually a member here and there a bunch of good guys who went above and beyond to try and get this to work, right down to replacing the whole thing and starting over again, so like I said I don't think its an install problem...AT ALL

First it wouldn't learn the tach, so they forced it to learn the tach.

Then there was the RAP feature which was making the radio stay on when it went into reservation mode, fix that.

Then the remote start worked but after a month or so it started blowing fuses so we disconnected it.

IDK I'm just trying to see if anyone ele has tried to install a remote start on one of these cars and if so how did you do it
Or even if you have some knowledge of how to go about doing this
Anything, its cold outside and I hate having to wait for the car to warm up.

BTW- This ones even got the guys at Compustar stumpt.

I do these cars all the time and have no problem getting it to remote start. Either they installed it wrong or they used the wrong bypass module. I did one last week where another shop couldn't get the remote start to work either. They had blown the ignition fuse and that was the problem. Get them to check all the fuses in the centre console.

We've done a few lately using compustar and blade.... no problems.

If I remember correct, Idatalink does not have a compatible bypass module for this car...... I want to talk to my install guy about this to confirm it first.

Thats the problem we were blowing fuses, IDK if it was the ignition one because the car still started and everything but it just stoped going into reservation mode one day

I'll have to look into that thanks for the info.

Idata Link is what they used so if its not compatable than that could be part of the issue, if you could check on that It would be a great help in crossing problems/non-problems off the list . Right now its all about trouble shooting and figuring out what is right and what is wrong.

Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it.

We originally had a issue with this car as well. I can't recall how it was solved but it was also at a time that idatalink did not have a module for it. For us it was all install related but it was also a new car at the time, no info on it and it was a employee guinea pig vehicle. The product itself is solid, I am sure the install is above average as well. Sometimes though it can be the smallest little thing that was overlooked that makes all the difference in the world. If you want, have the shop call me and I will forward them to them to my installer for some info that they might have overlooked. Sometimes two guys working together can solve a issue easier than 1.

there has been issues with the GM2 software from IDATA that has to be used to interface to your car. This could be it. The newest version was aviable from there website on Nov 25. Also the compustar has to be on version 5.1 or higher for the tach to work in 2 way idata mode. To find out what version u are running turn your igniton on and press buttons 1 and 4 together. 7 flashes of your park lights will be version 5.1. I am assuming they are using this because it is a compustar and idats together. Finally on the 07 + cobalt and G5 there is 2 brake wires you can tie into at the bcm. Both will test as brake. One of the wires will also come on with the parklights. If you are on that one after the compustar starts then flashes the park lights it will shut down as it thinks the brake was applied.

Hope this might help
