Real Time Vehicle Tracking systems

As it's about that time to begin thinking of a system to put into the car while it's interior is in pieces, giving me a ton of hide-away options, I was just wondering, is anyone here running a Real Time Vehicle Tracking system ? Something GPS/GSM/3G base etc ?

Does anyone have any suggestions on a brand to check out ?

I will be running a regular run-of-the-mill security system that I will have installed by a local shop eventually, but for this part of it, I plan to do the installation myself as a complete STAND ALONE so that NO ONE has any record of it...anywhere. The only person who will know about it's physical location in the car will then me ME and ME alone. This might sound a bit 'tinfoil hat' to some, but I just want to make sure that my car can not be gotten to and have it's tracking system diabled easilly by some crazy ex-employee of the shop where it would have been installed.

What's out there currently that is a friendly Google-Map GSM or GPS system....or of course, similar ?

Thanks in advance,
Allan

Putting a plug in for yourself is great except you don't carry any alarms.. so I fail to see the point of this? O_o

I can see what the OP is saying. the regular alarm will go off if someone breaks in, but then if they disconnect it and take off they are still being tracked (without knowing it).
I'm actually thinking of doing something similar to this in my truck, so i'll be following this closely.

thats more of an "OMG my husbands at the peeler bar again..." accessory than a theft recovery device. the latter is what i think OP is after

The Drone does everything, including notification of a violation to the vehicle. It's all encompassing @ $10.00 a month for tracking (the cheapest on the market).

In my first reply to this thread I was quoting the second post and was in no way responding to the OP.
