remote programming for avital hurricane 2
 

i have the installation guide and the users guide. and the infor to add a remote is to flip the valet switch back and forth 16 times then press the remote button. when i press the remote button nothing happens. i bought this remote from ebay

and it says it works for the hurricane 2. am i doing something wrong? if it is the wrong remote how do i make sure the next one i buy is going to work?
