Remote start upgrade to 2 way comparability?

Hello folks,
I am new here to your forum and have a question. I had dealer install a remote start as part of the deal and it is only one way which well sucks.here is what I have for a vehicle and remote starter;
2015 Toyota tundra SR5 double cab 5.7 litre
Directed electronics Auto Mate AM6.2 1 way remote starting system
Question is what remote 2 way starters would be compatible with the setup I have now minus the starting module(like wiring, bypass mudule so-on)? If I cnahge the remote starter it self will it have to be rewired all together ?'
Thanks
Jim

Hello and welcome to the Forum.

The AM6.2 1 button RS is as basic. With your system installed it will be much faster to install a new 2 way system. If you door locks are already hooked up that is good.

What ever options that are not installed right now that the new 2 way system would offer is something that would need to be added. However if you have the ability to install the system, it will be much faster now that there was one already in place.

What are you thinking of going with? AM9 or AviStart or thinking about moving away from DEI with a Compustar?

Anyway, Someone with background installing RS systems would be able to do an upgrade like this pretty fast.

Can't wait to see what you get and how it turns out.

What features do you have now?
What features were not installed but would want with the new RS?

Good Luck
James

Hey thanks for responding<
I have toyota Security imobiilizer, door lock and then had added the AM6.2

I did not know how limited the 1 way remote start was my mistake. I want a 2 way something simple that lets me know if truck has started or not same features as the AM6.2 just add the confirmation that truck has started is all . Withthe one way I have no of knowing if I hit button while in the store the truck will start and that kinda sucks...I mean it took them a hour to put this one in. I just want one that is compadable with what I have minus the remote start I am sure it has a Bipass for it not sure though .

Well a 2 way system needs to be the main system. So best I would say to un-install the 6.2 and install the AM9. Following the wiring as they have it. Longest part of the whole install would be taking the parts under the dash off to get access. Drop the old system down. INstall new system while removing the old. Seeing all other features you want may be installed already the extras can be secured away for future install. Then confirm installation, (Checking Dip switches polarity and features on the new brain do quick configure and your set)

Right now on the Bay you can get the AM9 for around 150 or maybe less if you look. Most right off start at around 150 to 180 for the NEW in Box or B stock.

Good luck
James

Yea there 140 bucks on amazon and found place that will install it for 100 bucks . I would do it myself but my eye's are messed up . I was gooing to get smart start at first one reason I just got the 1 way system but now it costs like 69 a month to get that service never mind the product and install . AM9 looks nice would I be able to use the lock and unlock with that . I really have no other items that could control I have manual heat controls manual seat. I posted how I added Navigation to my truck via Bluetooth GPS reciever Ipad2 and TomTom app .

not sure where you got 69 a month. Its more like 6-10 a month depending on your choice of service.
