Teach me about security....
I am seriously thinking bout a security system for my car. I would like some advice on what I should get. I hear I should get an extra battery for backup as well as run a siren/pain device~?'
What brands/models should I consider and what costs am I looking at?
Thanks
Scott

if you are mostly concerned with security when you are at a movie or dinner or somehting like that you may want to look at an alarm that will give you notification when the alarm is triggered if you are out of ear and sight range. many companies may a 2 way paging type alarm, dei, compustar etc, these will give you notification on your remote of your alarm being triggered. features for sure to get are, all entry points, hood, doors, trunk etc, ignition and or starter kill, park lights flash, as exgtra security you can add on a glass breakage sensor, beware there is few good ones, a back up battery, small and conveinient if the main voltage source is compromised, piezo sirens, aka pain generators are a great deterentance a thief has already entered and triggered you alarm, and the most important thing when getiing a security system is proper installation, a great alarm installed poorly will provide you with nothing but nightmares, you want your alarm to go off only if there is a real attempt by someone the thief your ride, hope this helps
So if I am getting that all right. I will want:
2 door triggers,
Trunk and hood triggers.
A backup battery,
siren/pain device
and ultimately a 2 way paging system
any ballpark on how much this will all cost?
Do I need a saparate pager? Or do they come with their own pager?

if you get the compustar it comes with a 2 way paging remote(5000') and a non 2 way remote(5000'), a back up battery isnt that big, the ones we use are 2"x2"x5". if you want more info go to www.compustar.org. good luck
