I was looking at their site and I couldn't really figure much out. I want a security system, but since my vehicle is manual everything I don't need the command start part. I couldn't find any prices on their site neither. Do they sell Compustar in Winnipeg? Trying to get a rough idea on what I need to spend on this. I want to get the right stuff and I want the paging feature as mentioned here. My budget is around $250-300(cdn) for the system.

Thanks
Scott

I'd suggest that you invest in the extra time(+2hrs) it will take to do a quality install, by allowing the installer extra time to hide the main unit in the trunk of the car, and the immobilizer under the hood(electric fuel pump cut can also be added.) . This will protect the car, and the alarm itself from a professional thief who may try to disable it. Add a horn honk feature, in tandem with the siren when the alarm is going off.

Wow....that is a little more then I barganed for. I was actually going to install the security system myself as I am very skilled in electronics and installing the system doesn't bother me. Can you get a Compustar system and install it yourself or do they not allow that?

Thanks defro13, I am quite familiar with my VW and electronics plus my father is a very skilled mechanic and knows his VW's inside and out if I run into any road-blocks. So does the cost of Compustar drop considerably if I am not paying an install fee?

The best story I ever heard was my unckle's. Years ago he had a camero and it was regular proceedure. Go to the city, get his stereo stolen. After like the 3rd or 4th time. He installed razor blades and fish hooks under the dash all around the deck. So.....low-n-behold, he was in the city again. Came back to his car, as he was walked up...sure enough. Window smashed. Still had the deck though....blood on the floor and ground.
