type c door locks

hey all,

I've got a question about alarms. I did an alarm in a 98 F-150 today with stock door locks. The type of locking system is called a Type C door lock. Does anyone know where I can get more info on this type of locking system? As well as how to wire it into an alram. Diagrams would be great. I figured out how to make it work, but I'm not sure if I'll remember it for next time.

Any info on other lock types would be great, I want to put all this stuff in a binder for myself.

Thanks all.

try Car Alarm, Car Stereo, and Cruise Control Info for Installers they have quite a bit of information... check their security section, for all the diagrams on locking systems you'd need for an alarm install...

regards, Mark

Drop me a PM if you end up on that site, my user name there is "forbidden" or Jeff "Velocity Motors" and we will step you through the process. If the vehicle has factory remote keyless entry it is a negative trigger. If the unit does not have factory keyless entry it is a reverse polarity system that requires relays. Here is a link to the circuit diagram for a reverse polarity system. You will be able to pick up these wires in the drivers kick panel, up high IIRC.

thanks guys, I'll look into it. I used bulldog security, I use it at work, but only found info on type B, and type F locks. I'll check out the other sites.

The link I posted does and shows the relay layout for reverse polarity doorlocks.

something I figured out today on yet another alarm. type c door locks are the same as negative door locks. and I'm assuming type b are positive?

am I correct?

I've done 3 alarms this week, and a trouble shooting on another alarm yesturday. The one today was a 2002 ford F-350 turbo diesel. Compustar alarm with auto start and factory keyless. I had some confusion with the autostart, played with it for awhile, then realized I had the relay for the starter disabler backwards I felt dumb when I figured that one out.
