Ultra Start
 

Hi all, new to the forum and car audio world, journeyman auto tech doing some side work and want to know your opinions on ultra start remote starts, they claim to have good range, nice remotes, but how is the reliability? I do not want repeat repairs because of inferior product, never seemed to have a problem with astro start but my cost is much better for ultra.

My parents got one. It works ok but the remote is kinda buggy. Eats batteries, plays the startup sound when you press lock once in a blue moon, says d-lock when the system is set up for regular lock.

I would say that anything you buy will be well made for "it's price point".
As for reliability, that depends more on the installer, quality workmanship and well placed sensors.
Quirky problems such as depleted batteries on a remote are usually attributed to too many keys on the key fob, causing them to be pressing on the remote buttons while in your pocket/purse.

Im pretty sure ultra start is just Autostart, which is a pretty good brand name...

No it is not the same.

Totally different companies. Totally different hardware.
