On my original Viper has been through 2 trucks, never a glitch. Only downside is they are tougher to buy if you want to do your own install. They are only suppose to be sold with installation to get warranty.

Compustar has a lifetime warranty. They do their research & development in Alaska, so it can handle the cold. I've sold thousands of them. The failure rate is below 5%, minus the recall (which they took care of right away and reimbursed me for).
I got rid of Viper years ago.

+1

as an installer, i have used the entire DEI line, autopage, audiovox, and compustar.

All the brands listed are great units.i have used both compustar and DEI. DEI definitely made great units but when they released the first gen responder LE, i had too many problems and just got fed up.

overall, i always preferred the compustar and pushed to sell that more often than DEI products. I have yet to have a defective unit come across my installs (knock on wood) i have one installed in my sisters car (first gen 2way) and its still going strong

yep all true. viper during the past 6 yrs. has been aquiring diferent companies. in this time they have had to implement there philosophy on alarms into the new product that they just bought, which meant closing down stores, hiring new staff and training, retooling lines ect. unfortunatly due to growth some building issues HAD to arrise. one was, as we all know, was the remotes issue. well i can tell you now that Viper has made no new major accusitions and they are finally caught up with product r&d and has everyone on the same page.. you will now see pre2004 quality, reliablilty, functionallity, and range. also remember there has only been issues the past couple of yrs. but for the past 20 yrs. no issues bulit proof and has that one awsome feature that no one eles does..... surround molex sound!!!! lol
