Why is the policy that we can only use pictures of ourselves as avatars? I mean, chances are we are never going to see eachother in real life so why not allow us to use symbols, etc, as well as photos of ourselves? I know these images are not kept on the CCA server so I dont see any harm in allowing this. I have visited other forms where the users can put pretty much whatever they choose for an avitar and I think it gives each member at least some character & gives other users a window to their personality.
What is everyone elses opinion?

I will give my 2 cents. This is one of the things that people will push to see how far they can go with it. By limiting it to just pics of yourself, it emliminates pretty much all of the other junk that you would get. I mean, logo's of manufactures would be alright but then where do we draw the line? It is after all a "user image". I have seen some of the other crap that other forums allow and I think ours is much more clean and for lack of a better word "mature" looking. When I go to some of the other forums, it looks cheap and ugly when people put crap in their user image. We keep things pretty open in the signature area if you want to add things in there, but just keep the size to a respectable limit and your good to go. Anyway, those are my thoughts.
My thoughts on this are that the more stringent regulations on this forum make me feel more secure about putting my face as my avatar, and just giving out certain information in general. I think it should stay that way.

boy ain't that a good reason to not put pics of your self.
what do ugly mother's like me do if we have a face so gargoylish that posting it might made women and children leave screaming. could a pic of my son holding a big trophy be allowed?something car audio?when i messenger i use a pic of our alternator(realy nice close up)

BTW I also use the current pic in my MSN from time to time along with a host of other faces TBA.
I find it ironic that months before I put my face on I post on this thread about avatars. Oh, I had myself a boffo.

It makes the board seem more "friendly" which is the main advantage we have over the other audio boards. I feel that I would consider most of the people here my friends and if and when we meet up at comps or such we can hang out after the show. It just makes us more Canadian dammit.
