Perhaps the mod for the 'for sale' section could consider posting a POST REQUIREMENTS type of list for all posts in that section.

Obvious requirements would be :

1- price, either aksing price, firm price, etc
2- location
3- contact email or other

And anything else that seems useful.

If the post did not meet these criteria, it would be subject to removal within a given time frame.

www.redflagdeals.com does this on their buy/sell/trade forum, and it seems to work well.

This eliminates the problem of people's 'auction' type posts, or 'pm me with offers' type posts.

Personally I hate checking out a post when someone is selling something I MIGHT be interested in, only to not get any real info other than 'pm or email me with offers'....

Just a thought.

Cheers

I agree, we need stipulations/gidelines to post in the for sale section.

Here is some rules another forum uses,, to give a good idea..

I would go Heavy on the Posting Price Rule

- Multiple Threads - Please refrain from using more then 1-2 threads for your items. Condense your items to one thread and modify the original message.
- Handle all transactions with common sense and please be courteous.
- You MUST Post a Price for ALL FS and FS/FT
- NO selling of items you do not have in your immediate possession
- NO SPAMMING
- NO Misleading thread titles
- NO services allowed (I'll do something for X dollars)
- NO alcohol, tobacco or firearms sales
- NO excessive bumping of your own thread
- NO auction type posts this isn't eBay or multi-level marketing schemes
- NO Dealers or Vendors of ANY KIND, this includes sub-selling
- NO selling of review items or products sample in nature, this includes engineering or production units.
- NO Price checks or interest checks. If you are not selling or buying don't post it in here, it takes away from real buy and sell threads.
- Deal through PM or email don't clutter your thread with negotiations keep that off the board or it will get deleted.

How about no price flaming? Don't like it? Don't say anything. It's up to the seller to ask the price he wants.

Rather than flame, take discretion and inquire further information via PM or email.

^I think that might be a bit drastic, but you can set it up if you want. That system won't bother me.

Really though, a simple reminder as part of a board sticky should alert members to use common sense and not post retarded flames.

I second that idea.
