[help] problem with passenger side tweeter

The last few months i've noticed a weird sound coming from the passenger side tweeter in my truck. Now I don't think it's blown, i've heard blown tweets before and they sounded different. I hear sort of a scratchy/hissy kind of sound, almost like a vibration in the tweeter itself.

It's only on the passenger side and it doesn't matter if the engine is on or not. I also tried to bypass the crossover and switch channels on my amp and that did nothing.

So either the tweeter is in fact damaged, or maybe there's something in the back of the deck that's causing the problems.

They are Hertz MLK 165 components.

This pretty much puts the problem in the tweeter or the wire that feeds it. Time to remove the tweeter and power it directly from a source.

If it's not the tweeter, if it's a connection problem, would it cause the tweeter to sound different?

A sketchy connection can for sure make a speaker sound funny.

An excellent reason to buy from a local. Maybe they can diagnose why it happened and advise how to prevent a future failure.

I got a new pair of tweeters for cheap, can't complain. I'm gonna equalize things a bit better this time.

you dont mention what system you have. Maybe you are simply playing them to loud. Or overloading your amp. If you have a huge sub you may not be able to hear tweeters or mids distorting.
