2 problem with my system
 

help me out guys, i drive a 2004 aveo hatch, POLK AUDIO DB521 5-1/4 INCH in the doors, 10"mtx mxs (7500) 400 watts rms in a sealed 0.75cu-ft box powered by rockford fosgate punch 450.2 briged to get 450watts rms. and my deck is sony cdx-7705x 4v pre outs.

problem number 1 is i upgraded my stock 4" door speaker to polk audio ones, and even tho they sound 100% better, they are not running right. at low volume im geting some sound doubling, which can be partly fixed by setting hpf to 125, and then the mid bass is complitly horble distorted ratle starting from 2/4 of the volume all the way to full volume, that can be almost fixed by setting lpf to 125. the speaker are powered by the deck by the way and my eq is set to Xpode.

can they be partly blown? or what else could be causing this?

problem number 2 is my amp is set to the lowest lpf becouse i want my sub to play only the lowest bass friq. my gain is set to max which is not right because of 4v pre outs, i tryed it at 1/4. 2/4 3/4, 4/4 gain, but im not hearing any distorsion from my sub, is that posible?

I can only comment on the pre out voltage, but from my own limited experience and what I have read online, those voltage numbers may be a bit optimistic.

For example, I have a Pioneer h/u which supposedly has 4v pre outs, BUT if I set my sub amp switch to the hi volt side (1v to 5v or 8v (forget right now)) I hardly get any volume whatsoever, even with the gain set at 70%. If I move the switch over to the "up to 1v" side then it about knocks you out of the car with the gain at 40% or so.

We had the chance to hook a sony deck with "4 volt" pre outs up to an osilloscope. The deck was clipping the signal with a flat eq at about half volume. Most decks you would expect that at between 3/4 to full volume. With the eq at Xplode I can't imagine the amount of clipping that is going on because of the deck it self! That would definatly explain the distortion in your speakers and why turning the high pass filter up helps(negates the Xplodes eq extra bass) By the way the alpine decks we tested did not clip at all at any volume!

same set up souded fine with stock 4" speakers and my stock rear 4x6" sound fine, so that rules out the deck, i just wish i can get a pro to listen to my system and tell me whats going on, but pros are hard to find, and if you find one he will try to sell you staff

What is sound doubling? Where did you buy your speakers? If you bought from a retailer they will be able to help you determine what exactly is wrong. Does the distortion go away when you turn the EQ to flat? Also check to make sure that the speaker isn't hitting anything and that it is securely in place.

I, too, first thought that maybe the speakers aren't secured properly. When they are receiving the lower frequencies they may be bouncing around.

Troubleshoot. I would suggest taking your fade all the way to the front. Then move the balance from full left, to full right. See if the problem can be heard from both door speakers. This might tell you whether or not one of the speakers is poorly installed.
And shut your sub off for now. Make sure that you're not not sending that LPF signal with the gain at max to the door speakers.

ok i took em out and listend to em free air. the passager one is not too bad not not perfict, but the driver one has a partly blown mid bass woofer. thats what happends when you buy used staff.
