6.5 vs 6x9 hpf settings
Hey I'm New to car audio and currently putting together my first system. Hope someone here can help me out
First let me spec my system HU: SONY cdx gt690ui Kenwood kac PS947 70x4 amp Symphony 320rms mono block Alpine S Components 6.5 front Alpine S Coaxial 6*9 rear Alpine swt 12s4 12" 300rms bass tube I was thinking of setting my hpf front to 125 and rear to 100. What do u think? I have been told by my audio guy that the alpine produce clean sound and can go down to 80hz and get some bass without distortion. Please advise |

Please advise set it to where it sounds best to you at the volume you like. I set my mids and highs through my hu so i can easily adjust from the front seat. Not sure if your sony has crossover settings. Anyways set em then bring in the sub. Car audio is all about personal taste. What sounds great to you is all that really matters. Anyways thats my 2 cents |

Could u elaborate on slope please. Should I have the lpf and hpf set the same or with a gap. My 6.5 go down to 70hz and 6*9 to 65hz so should I set the 6.5 a bit higher? Lpf I won't go over 90hz for localisation effect and no X-bass |

It does have it but I don't have slope settings so I thought I'd make use of the amps one. In addition I own an Alfa 156 so breaking down and maintenance is a daily routine. I don't want to forget resorting the filters after disconnecting the battery. For my budget it was the only hu available with 2 preouts and a sub out and 24bit dac.

You dont want a gap. You can start high like 300 and slowly go down till the mids dont like it. Same with sub start low and go up till u hear mid bass. Slope settings are usually 12 or 24. 12 better for coupes or when you have to push bass thru a seat for example. 24 better for converts and suv where no obsticles in tbe way of the sound wave. |
