Alpine PXA-H700 Sound Processor
 

I just picked up a used PXA-H700 but it's missing the microphone & extension cable between the controller & the box. I can still buy the extension cable but the mic & it's substitute part # have been discontinued.
Does anyone know of a source for an original mic or a good substitute?

Dont bother with the mic. Just set it up your self.

x2 from what i heard it wont even give you a good baseline to start with...

x3- great piece... nobody I know used the mic more than once and they disgarded the settings.

If you wanted a self adjusting system, imprint is what you need.

Thanks for the replies. After I left the post here, I found Crutchfield Canada selling off its last 2 RUX-C701 controller kits for 1/2 price & free shipping. It cost me 160 which will give me the 20' connect cable which would have cost me 60 or 70 bucks anyways and I get the mic and a new controller face with no signs of wear & tear. I believe the face lights blue instead of green on mine which is better also for my install so for an extra 100 bucks, I'll have everything (and new) even if I don't use the mic.

the mic settings I remember were way out in left field...not one settings was remotely close when I played with it,

Thats a shame that it won't even get me started with a good baseline but I guess that just means I will just have spend more time learning how to tune it. Is there a set procedure to make the settings in for an effective set up? Like set speaker size first, then time alignment, then work on slope, etc etc ? Has anyone ever done a write up on this for those like me that are not experienced at tuning? I think I know what sounds good, I'm just not sure how proficient I am at getting there yet.

I find too many people charge into the EQ and TA without optimizing the Xover first. Really, you should be able to get 95% of the way there using just the Xover portion.
