Amplifier keeps blowing fuses HELP PLEASE!!
Amplifier keeps blowing fuses HELP PLEASE!!
So i have two jl audio 12 inch sub woofers. Both powered by a Mobile Authority TA1501 amp each. They both have their own amp. So i'm running A Mobile Authority amp to a jl audio 12 inch w1. And the other one is a Mobile Authority amp to a jl audio 12 inch w0. Hence why they are not bridged. Now i installed everything myself.
It was working perfectly fine for a month and a half-ish. Up until about a week ago i noticed one sub wasn't running anymore. ( i believe the w0 which i think is blown somehow as well) Now the amp that is hooked up to the possibly blown w0 isn't working. it constantly blows fuses. i have tried un hooking the w0 cause i heard that if the sub is blown it might try to draw more power than it needs to.(dont understand that) and after unhooking the w0 it still blew its fuse. its a 10 amp fuse. which is on the other amplifier which is still working perfectly fine.
I can take pictures or what ever you might need to help me just let me know.
PLEASE HELP ME!! this is driving me insane why i cant figure it out. Any thing would be nice.
Thanks in advance , Marcus

Hi Marcus, sounds like you have a blown amp. If it blows the fuse with no speaker hooked up then something is blown inside. It may have burnt your sub too. Did you get an acrid smell when things stopped working? Better have someone who knows how to use a multimeter check things out for you. One question: Does the fuse blow when you apply power or only after the system is turned on? If it blows as soon as the power wires are hooked up then it's most likely a power supply transistor that blew. If it blows after the system is turned on then it's most likely a blown output stage transistor. Hope this helps.
Well im not to sure of what you just said about the out put stage and the power supply transistor. I have my power supply cable from the battery going to a spliter on top of my box. and i split the power supply into the amps so i have two cables going from the spilter. one to amp a and one to amp b. this is why i think its a problem with the amp. Theoretically what ever happens to one side should happen to the other if its a problem before the spliters. im not sure if that answers your question or not. but im taking it to an adio shop today,
