Blown Sub?
Today i jumped in my truck, let my system warm up like i always do and after about 10 minutes of playing (not hard) my one subs started making this rattling sound. However, the sound stops right away when i put pressure on the cone from the outside. Is my sub blown? Its a 10" Alpine Type S by the way. I did a search but didnt come up with any answers. Thanks.

No one can help me?

sounds like the basket is broken:dunno:

is it blown?
one thing you can do is to measure the impedance if you havea multimeter. If not, check your amp if it's still working. Sub could possibly have a bad tinsel wire on the inside too. If you're close in scarborough, we can check it at no charge for you.

sounds like the spider came loose, it need to get reguled if anything.

Thanks for the help guys, unfortunately im not near scarborough. I havent had a chance to take it out and check whats up because of this stupid snow storm and sub zero temperatures. When i put pressure on the cone it stops which is what boggles me. Thanks again.

how much pressure do you need to apply???
|
Not very much, just a little.

Well, i froze my ass of today and pulled my subs out of my truck. I just pulled the offending sub out of the box, what should i be looking for?
|
if your pushing on the cone and it won't move i would have to say it's blown
