Can I push it a little more???

Alright so I got my system going and I love it, but I know she isn't hitting as hard as she can, but I don't wanna wear the poor old car out. It's a ZX300.1, but I've read around and even on the birth sheet it says 387. I saw one gentlemen say his was running around 375 rms at 2 ohms. The gain is bellow half right now, but not really to far from it. It's a 89 civic DX. My dad gave it to me as a beater, and he said the alt was rebuilt around 300,000 (it's at 375,000 right now). So far even on some of the lowest bass songs, or hard hitting songs, I haven't seen one bit of light dim, so I guess it's safe to say turn her up a bit? I just really don't wannt be sitting on the side of the road because the alt blew up and is half a klick behind me. Thanks in advance.

Turn your volume on your deck up as high as you would normally (usually about 3\4 up) (to some music with heavy bass) and then open your trunk and play with the gain and stop turning it up when it starts to sound different, you should back off a little.

It shouldnt sound like it is hitting something, but compare it to when it is playing lower. It should sound the same but louder... if the sound changes a bit then the gain is to high.

Sweet thanks a lot guys. I'm loving life with this sub. The amp works great as well, best 80 bucks I ever spent, except for when I bought a couple packs of condoms.

But on another note, turning the gain up dosnt always put out more power, the gain needs to be matched to your deck output, if u turn it up to much, u can clip the signal(distortion) and then thats not good for ur speakers.

so just be carefull doing it, especially if ur not sure hwat ur doing.
Well it may be nothing to the alt, but i'm pretty sure it's all stock wiring. The wierd thing is (I guess back in 89 they did this), their is only 1 ground wire for the battery. Usually you see it go straight ot the chassis, but I noticed it didn't, and it was at least an 8 guage. Still no dim yet, i'm going to tune it, thank you both of you.
