Capacitor Question
#31
My answer is buy a cap when and only when you think you need it, several on here have sworn it can cure dimming lights, many have disagreed . So what does that mean, if you are in a position where your system is pulling more power for brief moments than your cars electrical system can provide a cap might be just the ticket... or not. I am personally very skeptical about their value and they can do more harm than good if the power draws are too long and too deep. Yet they may have more value for a SQ system than a SPL system.
Bottom line I do not think they are a required part of a SQ or SPL system unless needed ( I would prefer a second battery for less money most of the time). If you have light dimming borrow one and put it in your system and see if it helps, if it works buy one.

I can say they do fine on the SPL systems, but only on the street classes one or 2 batteries), and when isolated from the amps with diodes, in a way that your HU will keep playing under 10V... apart from that, they are useless in SPL. In SQ, considering there are folks with super-hearing the transient peaks benefit MIGHT be somehow audible.

How mandey?
How many amps can I connect to this 1F Cap. I've go 65W in front, 75W back & 400W on a single sub. Do I connect all the power to this single cap? Also , I see so many spec,s with 14.4V numbers. In the real world there is no way that you could run your sound at 14.4 sustained. Why post specs that are not inr the real world.

Hi I have a 20 10inch w3 jls which are 300 each and a 500/1 jl subwoofer and my lights are dimming. Anyone have a suggestion on what brand of cap I should look into. Also if my bass hits are like 2 secs apart would the cap be able to handle that?
thanks

What size wire are you running? Do the big 3 and it should solve your problem without going to a cap. If you do want one on 500watts a 1farad cap will do.
