Car radio overheating.
I have a kenwood radio an if keeps over heating I have a ford escort zx2 I moved some stuff in the dash around an there's alittle better air flow, I only have 3 speakers hooked up 2 stock and a 12" 500 watt sub no amp yet, it got so hot yesterday it actually blew a fuse, I'm new to all this and my dad helped me hook it up an all the wires are fine, I just twisted them together and taped them, should I use wire connectors instead?
Yes you should use connectors for a more secure connection.
hmm am I reading you correctly, did you hook up a 12'' 500 watts sub directly to the kenwood? |
Yes that's correct why is that bad?
It's too much power for the deck, a typical deck is about 20 watts rms. You need an amp !
Alright thanks :). Will look into getting an amp.
No problem mann.
Now if I get an amp that is 800 bridged watts 400 unbridged would that work with my speaker if I don't bridge it?
What it the exact model number of the sub and the amp?
